If you missed my 1st couple of posts about our West Coast Trip, you should check those out first.
– Day 1 – Day 2 –
So on Day 3 of our West Coast Trip we woke up in our tent in Yosemite’s Half Dome Village. I woke up a little chili and actually quite sore from the hike the day before, but the brisk fresh air was welcoming. We got dressed and jumped in the car. We wanted to stop and check out Yosemite Falls on our way out of the park. We took a short hike to the falls and got a few pics.
We got several peeks of the falls from the trail.
Beautiful large Sequoyahs along the path
Even though it was still early, there were lots of people down there already. Here’s a wide view to show the number of people. For the rest of the pics of us at the falls, I chose pictures that show the least amount of other people.
After leaving there we had to drive back through Mariposa where we spent the first night. We decided to go to Donuts a Go Go since it was closed the day before.
We got some donuts and went to the convenient store next door for some caffeine. We made our way over to Cupertino.
I was quite fascinated with the wind turbines.
Apple Headquarters!! You can’t tour the complex, but you can go Apple Store that’s on site and take pictures from the front.
We decided to get on over to Palo Alto for lunch before going to Stanford University. We ended up at Gott’s Roadside. The burgers and garlic fries were well worth the price!
After filling our bellies, we drove over the campus of Stanford University to walk around and check out one of the most beautiful campuses in the country.
Stanford Memorial Church right in the front of campus
I mean really. Who wouldn’t want to go to school here?
We of course went to the bookstore, which was huge and amazing. We had bookstore envy! We all got t-shirts.
After leaving Stanford it was time to get to San Francisco!
We first stopped at this Vista Point.
Drew points to Stanford that we could see in the distance.
I was so excited the closer we go to middle of San Fran.
Here’s our hotel Nob Hill Moter Inn, which we liked because there was the parking was right there and it was free. There’s only a couple hotels in San Fran where that’s the case.
View from our door out to the corridor. Our car was parked down on the 2 floors down right underneath us. Very close!
After checking in and unloading the car, there was no time to spare, so we ventured off to the Painted Ladies.
We were bummed that the park area was under construction.
Then Rob drove us over to the crookedest street in the world, Lombard Street. What an adventure!
There’s Alcatraz in the distance, which we visited the next day.
So many steep streets makes for some adventurous driving. Thank goodness I wasn’t at the wheel! I just love seeing the cable cars.
For dinner we decided to drive over to Chinatown for some dinner. The area was a little sketchy at night. We ended up at Yuet Lee Seafood Restaurant. While it wasn’t a fancy place, it was some of the best Chinese food we’ve ever had. I honestly don’t remember the exact thing we ordered, but I believe we had a dish with shrimp and another dish with chicken.
After enjoying our dinner, it was to the hotel so we could plan out our next day.
