Last month, I wasn’t thrilled with the books I read. It’s just crazy how I can be so enamored by a cover or a 2 sentence description and then as I read I feel really disconnected with the characters and/or the story line. Admittedly I’m bad about going into a book blindly without doing too much research, because I don’t want any spoilers. Also, since trying to start reading again, I find I’m having a hard time rating books. I’m not sure what justifies the top rating of 5 at this point. I don’t fee like I’ve read a 5…

I have finally (I hope) found a routine that is working pretty well for reading listening to audio books. Something made me look at the eBooks available for my local pubic library and then I noticed audio books. I ended up checking out this first one and have found listening to them while I get ready for work in the morning and trying to make sure I get through an hour each day seems to be a habit, I’m enjoying and can stick with. I’ll Be There (But I’ll Be Wearing Sweatpants): Finding Unfiltered, Real-Life Friendships in This Crazy, Chaotic…

Doesn’t every child deserve to go on an adventure? I am excited to announce that Crayon Crunch is launching a Kickstarter campaign to be the first personalized children’s book that is inclusive to every ethnicity and special need. While most personalized books allow the reader only to customize the lead character’s name, Crayon Crunch is taking personalization to a new level. The printed picture book is filled with beautiful illustrations and allows readers to fully customize the lead character’s appearance. Including the name, facial features, eye color, hair color & style, skin tone and clothing. They even allow readers to add…

This week is Children’s Book Week! Yay! Since Children’s books are my favorite, I’m bubbling with excitement to share my favorite children’s books of all time. When I started thinking back to the books I had growing up, this is one that comes to mind first. I remember purchasing this at a school book fair. I couldn’t have been more excited. It remained one my fav books and I still have it today. Little Rabbit’s Loose Tooth The Dollhouse Murders reeled me in and made me a lover of mystery and suspense. Judy Blume, although controversial, her books were some…

My last week at the library I saw this book, flipped through it, and decided to check it out. I loved that it was short, sweet, and to the point. It outlines 63 rules about food. A lot of it is common sense, but I think for a lot of us we have lost our common sense when it comes to food. Anyone else agree with me there? I know deep down, I know what’s good and not good, but when I’m “on the go”, I just throw all that out the window. And I drive up to the window!…

I just read finished finally reading The Shack. If you have not read the book, I would highly recommend it. I don’t want to discuss the book too much, because I don’t want to give anything away. I will say that I really took to heart the biblical teachings and was able to relate them to my own life. As I was reading I found some quotes that I liked. Here they are: When all you can see is your pain, perhaps you lose sight of me? -p.96 Growth means change and change involves risk, stepping from the known to…
