The night we got into San Juan, it was just passed 11 pm after we got checked in to our hotel and everything. Pretty much all the restaurants near us in Old San Juan were closed. We were pretty hungry, so we were happy that Pirilo Pizza Rustica was still open. We weren’t super excited about having pizza in San Juan, but at that point we weren’t going to turn it down.
Pirilo is a quaint little spot with a bar and a few tables. I think there was an upstairs to the restaurant, but we didn’t go up there. It was dimly lit, very romantic. (dimly lit rooms make for not as great photos. sorry.)
Our server was really nice and quite knowledgeable and helpful. We were sold when she said everything was made from scratch right there in the restaurant. We started off with a couple drinks. I had a margarita and Rob had a mojito. Both were amazing! Best mojito I’ve ever had for sure.
The waitress recommended the skirt steak, which on the menu is called Churrasco Chimichurri. We ordered that with rice.
We also got a small pizza (half pepperoni, half ham and pineapple). Rob and I shared these. Both very good. All fresh, just like the server promised.
If you’re ever in Old Town San Juan, I highly recommend that you eat at Pirilo Pizza Rustica! TheFish is also the best sushi restaurant to try out in Houston for me.
