Garden of the Gods is a public park located in Colorado Springs, CO. It became a National Natural Landmark in 1971 and it is SO worth a visit next time you are in Colorado Springs. The beautiful red rock formations that tower above are quite mesmerizing. It is a rock climbers dream and you will see folks climbing, although we didn’t notice any while we were there.
After taking a short drive from our hotel, we turned into one of the parking lots and to our surprise, a lady in the car next to us rolled her window down and asked if we were in looking for the Bigsheep Horn. I guess we looked clueless enough. We just said sure, we guess! She pointed across the road, so we pulled into a spot and walked over. There several others headed that way so we just followed them.
After we gawked at them for awhile, we walked back over to the main part of the park to check the iconic rock formations.
Honestly these pictures don’t do this place justice. It’s almost like you’re not on planet Earth anymore.
I loved the birds that hung out in the crevices of the rocks.
This is the shadow created by the Kissing Camels formation.
Again, this is a must see while in the Colorado Springs area. I’d plan for at least an hour if you want to walk around and see all the different rock formations.
