It’s amazing how getting ready for a trip can exhaust you! I think we’re pretty much ready. I just need to pack my computer up and a few other things. I feel like I’m bringing everything we own! LOL! That’s what having kids does for you and have Christmas presents, too. So I might log in while we’re gone, but I’m not sure. So if not, see you next week!

HAVE A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

I’m sad…I just got rid of some baby stuff! Since we saved everything after Drew was done with it, this is my first time to get rid of baby stuff! I took the swing to the Life Mission Thrift Store. As I drove off I looked in my review mirror, seeing it lay there on the ground. Ughgh, how sad! LOL! Then the bassinet with a baby tub, baby towels, and some other stuff, we gave to a coworker of Rob’s who’s wife is having a baby in March. I wasn’t as sad to see that go for some reason, maybe because I know it will be put to good use and because neither of my babies used it for that long. The swing, was a Godsend though! Rob was excited to get rid of stuff. I was sad! LOL!

Anyway…I’ve been washing, folding, packing, and cleaning. Trying to get ready to leave tomorrow. Waiting on the last load (hopefully) to dry!

Last night, I went shopping with my gift certificates! It was fun! Lots of stuff on sale! Which always makes it nice to get money or gift certs, because you get more for the money! After I left the mall, I stopped by Brewster’s Ice Cream and got a turtle shake! I sat in the car and ate it, while listening to music. Actually, that sounds kind of pathetic! LOL! I guess I was just enjoying some solitude! Well, I’m feeling sleepy…maybe I’ll go take a nap!

Later!

Ok, WOW!! I just made some more major changes to my blog layout! I guess I wasn’t thrilled about the new look last night. I just like having a solid background behind all the text. That way I can use crazy, wild backgrounds! I’m going with the Auburn colors still, because I felt like it! Anyway…waiting on Rob to get home so I can go shopping, but the later it gets the more tired I’m getting!!

I’m in a bad mood, I’m in a bad mood, I’m in a bad mood!!! Do you ever say that over and over again in your head when you get in a bad mood? I do and I’m not sure why I’m in a bad mood. I mean I’m off work, things are pretty good…

Maybe it’s because my body is ridding itself of synthetic hormones and it’s effecting my mood! Maybe it’s the hag that said something rude to us at the restaurant at lunch! I don’t know! Oh, well…I’m going to try and be happy. I should be happy I get to go shop with my gift certificates this evening when Rob gets home.

I need to start wash and start pulling stuff out for our trip.

More later!

Have a very

Merry Christmas!

Posted 12/24/2004 at 6:58 PM

Thursday December 23, 2004
I found this poem…sad, but true!

What DOES Christmas mean?

Somewhere amidst confusion in
the frantic Christmas race–
the deadline shopping, start and stopping
at a frenzied pace.

The name of Christ has been removed,
left off the Christmas scene.
Without the name of Christ, what then
does Christmas really mean?

No longer do the schools release
for Christmas holiday;
it’s incorrect politically,
but Winter Break’s O.K.

Now scenes of the Nativity
are banned from public streets.
Too much religiosity’s
considered indiscreet.

Does Christmas portend Santa Claus,
whose sleigh and reindeers fly,
as Rudolph with a shiny nose
guides them through starlit sky?

For presents stacked high by the tree
the children eagerly reach.
What message does this scene present?
What lesson does it teach?

Is Christmas spirit portrayed here?
What it is meant to be?
Is it to wonder of those gifts
How many are for me?

There’s nothing wrong with Santa Claus,
let’s keep him on the scene,
but let’s replace the name of Christ
to teach what Christmas means.

~~~Poem by: Shelby Forrest ~~~
Ok, I have a story from earlier. It was dark and really cold!! I went to the store and parked. Got out of my car and just glancing over to the car next to mine, I see these eyes looking up at me. I try not to stare, but I’m thinking, “what did I just see?” Well, it was a teenage girl laying in the back seat of this car. I think, “Ok, that’s weird!” When I come out of the store, after getting in my car, I see the girl straddling a boy with the windows all fogged up! Ack!!! Yuck!!! But truly scary!! I guess it’s a good thing I didn’t know the girl!
Ok what a day! Stayed up till 1 working on the family website. Got some stuff done around the house. Took Alex to daycare. Went to Wal-Mart where I made the HUGE mistake of going through the SELF-CHECK OUT!! NEVER AGAIN!! I had the light go blink 4 times for assistance!!!! I only had 10 items, hello! The lady “helping” didn’t have a clue and ughgh! Kroger’s self-check out system is much better!
McDonald’s was PACKED! But ended up not being as bad as I thought. Then, we went to get the tickets for the movie. I was so thankful that I did that because later the line was out to the street! Anyway, I used the debit card to pay for it and when I saw the receipt I’d been charged a SURCHARGE of $1!!! AGHGHGH!! That makes me so mad!!
Anyway the Polar Express was SO awesome!!! Best “kid” movie ever!
Finally got the Christmas pics so Christmas letters went out today, finally!! Sorry if they’re late! I figured people want the pictures more than the letter so I waited! LOL
Another productive day! On Sunday, my mother in law called and asked if we wanted to have Christmas here! We usually open presents here and have breakfast and then head up to their house for the rest of the day. But she suggested it might be nice since they don’t have all those foster kids that it would save us a trip and that way they coud get out of the house. Rob and I agreed to do it. So that meant a BIG trip to Walmart for the Christmas lunch-dinner. We’re having homemade spaghetti, homemade meatballs, and homeade sauce (all by my Italian husband!) New tires and work done on something wrong with the axel…yesterday and today. Shopping, lunch with Rob, and cleaning, cleaning, cleaning! Tomorrow Alex goes to day care for a bit and Drew and I are planning on going to the movies…The Polar Express probably!
I’m watching the Biggest Loser! I’m rolling on the floor laughing!! I LOVE IT!
I had this at my Staff Christmas Party:
Apple Brickle Dip
1-8 oz. cream cheese [softened]
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup white sugar
1 Tsp. vanilla
1 package Almond Brickle Chips
[or English Toffe bits]
3 medium tart apples cut into wedges
[soak apples in Sprite or Ginger Ale to prevent them from darkening]
It was YUM! I’m making on Christmas day! Along with my Spinach-Artichoke Dip! Drew’s making cookies!!
I got really curious about bike racing, etc. As some of you remember me talking about my Uncle Guy who was in the Tour De Frace on Lance Armstrong’s team this year.
This is him with Shanna Armstrong who he’ll be racing with in June 2005!
Here’s the race he’s going to be in in 2005! Lubbock Online talks about it here! BTW, he’s older than my Dad!
You go Dad!
This is my Dad! 52 years old and won a mountain bike race through Palo Duro Canyon! By the way, his FIRST race ever! My dad is such an inspiration to me! I don’t know too many people that put their health in such high importance, like he does. With all of the awful family health history, he does everything he can to keep himself in tip top shape, as you can see!
…such a tragedy for someone to take their life. For those of you who have heard of the Crystal Catherdral, he was their music conductor. AMAZING & BRILLIANT man. He came to Auburn and conducted some of the his music which our choir sang during the Christmas program at our church. He wrote something especially for us which our choir premiered. Today after our Christmas lunch, I was just skimming the headlines on MSNBC’s website when I saw the article. A good friend and coworker of mine is in the choir. I went and asked of if she’d heard about Johnnie Carl and she was like No, why? I broke the news to her and she said the choir had received gifts from him last night! She is deeply emotional about this, which is completely understandable. She said she knew he was bipolar. My heart goes out to all who are affected by this!
Random thoughts…
I’m just hanging out. Alex’s sleeping, Drew’s playing on the computer, Rob’s bowling…
I’m watching The Biggest Loser.
Ok and what’s up with this 70 degree weather in December!?!? Uck!
Alex was asleep last night when we put the Christmas tree up. So this morning…
Alex’s curiosity is so sweet and innocent. He didn’t notice the Christmas tree until I turned the lights on. Then, he looked for few mnutes and then crawled over to it. Of course, he reached up for one of the balls hanging near the bottom. Precious, unforgettable moments…
Alex is 9 months today…ughgh! Growing up so fast!
Sunday…church, went to get Christmas tree (in the rain! Started raining on our way there!), Christmas concert at the church!
Today…dinner at Longhorn with my coworkers in my hall. It was nice and SO good! Then, came home and we put the tree up!
Hallelujah! It’s the weekend!! What a week! It could have been worse, I suppose. My students are just READY for a break! The 5th grade teachers and I had to come up with a new behavior plan at least until after Christmas is over. They don’t want to work. All they want to do is socialize!!!
I’m feeling the same way as are the other teachers. I’m in a Christmas spirit like never before. Rob doesn’t want to do Christmas (decorate and get a tree) until after the SEC Championsip game this weekend. So maybe Sunday or maybe next weekend. I’ve been shopping like crazy and still haven’t really even started!
Anyway…gotta go check on Alex…who is everywhere!
