January felt like a mix of adventure, routine, and a whole lot of real life, good and bad! From travel days to tough days to sweet family moments, here’s how the month unfolded, one sentence at a time.

– Going on an excursion by myself and having fun!
– Had a great day in Ocho Rios getting to see Bob Marley’s house.

Friday/1.2.2026
– A great day in Grand Cayman
– We spent the day moving from a chilly breakfast to a bus tour through Hell and Tortuga tastings, a quick but fun stingray trip, hungry shopping and burgers, then an evening of comedy, 80s music, mixed‑bag nightlife, and finally winding down on the balcony with the sound of the ocean.

Saturday/1.3.2026
– Another day on a cruise is a good day!
– A little frustrated I didn’t get more balcony time because that’s what I was really wanting to do a good part of the day…Oh well. Alex headed to North Carolina for his annual ski trip with his buddies.

Sunday/1.4.2026
– Uneventful trip home
– A long travel day once Katherine was done being nauseous. Poor thing. Multiple food stops including a great one at Mama Rita’s, dropping the girls off, unpacking and laundry, leftovers, and finally trying to wind down after doing more tidying.

– Productive day
– I got an appointment set with Ron’s Appliance to look at the oven that died (Error Code 7) while my brother-in-law, Nick was house‑sitting during our cruise, as well to address the washer’s shaking during the spin cycle.

Tuesday/1.6.2026
– Getting through another training day.
– Training day for the new group went pretty well, with Maddie from the afternoon crew especially chatty. Rob stayed home feeling pretty awful, and he ended up giving our basketball tickets to Alex. Auburn vs. Texas A&M turned into a tough loss.

– Afterwork naps
– Rob is still sick.

Thursday/1.8.2026
– Our dr who prescribed Rob some antibiotic and steroid.
– Appliance repair guy came out. He fixed the washer, but thinks we need a new oven. Rob still sick.

– Rob feeling better!
– Rob eager to get out of house, so we went to gymnastics. Got to see Auburn beat NC State.

Saturday/1.10.2026
– Fresh start after putting away Christmas stuff.
– We put away Christmas, Drew drop by before LA and Caitlyn came to hang out in the hot tub, and wrapped the day with Rob at the basketball game for a fun, surprising win over Arkansas.

Sunday/1.11.2026
– Good days
– Church and Sunday School, then a pair of vultures greeted us at the house. Went to Women’s basketball win over Florida, 60–50. Rob hung our gift from the Johnston’s, and Drew, Caitlyn, and LA came over for the hot tub.

Monday/1.12.2026
– Good conversations with Caitlyn
– Rob went to the dentist this morning for his crown, but the temporary one fell a few hours later. Proud that I’m still getting up early for my morning Bible study routine, grabbed iHop with Caitlyn, and battled a migraine most of the day…even caffeine didn’t touch it. Alex came by and he talked about his ski trip and showed me a few videos. The sunset, though, was gorgeous.

– Feeling motivated
– I got a walk in and also took Kayleigh for a walk. Rob went to his Troop 50 leader reunion dinner.

– Bedtime
– I have been in such a funk and I don’t love it.

Thursday/1.15.2026
– Good time with LA
– Picked up LA from her new day care (closer to us and her house as so much cheaper). She got to eat dinner with us. We went to see Randy and Pam’s rental house. Rob started feeling really sick again.

Friday/1.16.2026
– Having the wherewithal to email oven company 1st! (They can’t fix the part that’s broken)
– A crisp 27‑degree morning with Rob sick again, my blood draw, back home to meet Roy from Ron’s Appliance.

Saturday/1.17.2026
– Safe and uneventful trip driving myself home from Atlanta
– Rob was really sick and unsure about the Texas trip, and we got worried when his dad didn’t answer texts until we called Pam. Found out he’s in the hospital with pneumonia and a stomach issue. Rob decided to still head to Texas, so we had dinner at Taco Mac in Newnan before I dropped him at his airport hotel. Drew stopped by in the afternoon with vitamin C and elderberry and seemed eager to hang out, but Rob felt too bad.

Sunday/1.18.2026
– My kids still like to hang out with me
– Drew, Caitlyn, and LA and Alex came over and they got in the hot tub. We chatted and ended up going to Zaxby’s for dinner and hung out and Drew and Caitlyn before Alex and I went to our respective homes for some down time before going to sleep.

Monday/1.19.2026
– Rob getting home safely.
– Ugh, just a lot on my mind. Too many stresses and worries, but I’m trying to think calmly through the fog of all that. Rob home from driving his Dad’s Acura here and we unloaded it at their house. Drew, Caitlyn, and LA came over for chili.

Tuesday/1.20.2026
– To have an answer on Rob’s sickness and hopefully a plan to get him well!
– Great day at work as in it went by so fast. Rob and I went to Randy/Pam’s to be there with movers. Rob ended up really hurting his arm. Went to Acapulco ’s for dinner.

Wednesday/1.21.2026
– Getting preliminary answers for arm even though its bad news.
– Took the day off, so I got to sleep in. Helped Rob get ready for Emmaus. Brought Rob to Dr. Dooley’s and he’s pretty sure Rob has a ruptured Distal Bicep Tendon which will require surgery, which I’m sad about but its good to know that has to happen.

– A pretty good day even through mental hurdles
– After work I picked up a sweet and chatty LA from daycare, spent the afternoon feeding and rocking her until Caitlyn arrived, then went over to Randy’s to work on unboxing somethings and making their house more welcoming when they get home.

Friday/1.23.2026
– Getting Randy’s house more settled from last night. Andrew is 28 today!
– A full day that started with a checkup and errands to Randy’s house, got a needed nap, and wrapped up with gymnastics with my mother-in-law, Alice. Lazer designs on the floor before the meet started were cool.

Saturday/1.24.2026
– Rob is able to use his arm more now that swelling went down.
– I juggled a late afternoon photo session, squeezed in a nap and went through photos from session, then went with Rob to CFA and a long, productive late evening unpacking before Randy and Pam get to their rental house in Auburn.

– A great and productive day!
– We skipped church. Waffle House with Rob and Nick, helped unpack more at Randy’s, grabbed a nap and a balloon run, then spent the evening celebrating Drew with surprise bowling, Mikata dinner, and LA’s first hibachi experience.

Monday/1.26.2026
– A quiet day
– Randy was supposed to get to Auburn today but they ended up staying in Baton Rouge another day because of the cold.

– Hugs from Alex
– Randy and Pam got to town. We all ended up eating out together with Randy/Pam/Drew, Caitlyn, and LA and Alex.

– Watching us beat Texas in Men’s Basketball
– Rob had MRI on arm. Made an appointment for me that I’ve been putting off way too long. Decided to redo LA’s 1 year pics. Went to AU vs Texas game

Thursday/1.29.2026
– Chill evenings even when we’re not at home
– Picked up LA after work. She’s been sick with another ear infection, but seemed to be in a good mood. Went over to Rob’s Dads to help him with a few things before heading to dinner at new restaurant near his house called the Latin Table. Good stuff!

Friday/1.30.2026
– Getting to sleep in a little when I realized how tired I was when I first got up.
– Went to Rob’s pre‑op appointment and then we had breakfast together at CFA. Morning much better than my evening.

Saturday/1.31.2026
– A great Saturday (even though so very cold) with family coming over and having Drew help Rob remove the old oven.
– A visit to Rix’s appliance to get the new oven figured out, as well as a stop at the pet store for some chew options for Kayleigh (we’re tired of licking), redo of LA’s 1 year pics, as well as a visit from my in-laws that just moved here.

Looking back, January held more ups and downs than I expected, but writing it out reminds me how much life fits into a single month. Here’s hoping February brings a little more steadiness and a little more breathing room.
