In today’s world, life is go-go-go! More is expected of us in less time which causes us more stress. After work, I’m running from soccer fields to scout meetings to church events most every night. Getting dinner on the table and providing healthier snacks for my family always seems to be last on my to-do list. I am always looking for easier ways to provide different options for meals and snacks.
Hummus is one of my favorite snacks and as much as I love it, I’ve never had the guts to try making it myself. I always buy the store-bought ready-made hummus. Bush’s Beans recently introduced a new product called Hummus Made Easy. It is so easy!
You can throw together your very own hummus and add stuff you like or you don’t have. Bush’s really made making your own hummus so easy that anyone can make it. You get a pouch of hummus mix and a can of beans. Drain and rinse the beans. Pour both items into a blender or food processor and blend until you get the consistency you want.
If you want it just that simple, its just that easy and it is so delicious. The first time I made these Hummus Made Easy recipes, I wanted to see how they tasted by themselves. All three varieties are so full of flavor on their own and they truly don’t need anything added to them. However, I love this stuff so much and it’s healthier than other dips so know I’ll want to mix it up a little bit. The combinations of ingredients is endless! I came up with this chart as easy reference for different recipes.
One thing I forgot to include on my chart is Bush’s Chili Bean flavors. Many of these would make very flavorful combinations with any of the varieties of hummus. I adore recipes that are so easy to mix and match; leaving you to use your creativity. I would love to hear what unique recipe you come up with!
It never fails that when life is busiest, my office decides we should all bring something to share. Don’t get me wrong, I love getting in the kitchen and making something scrumptious to share with my coworkers. However, often times there’s just not enough hours in my day to do that. You never want to be the one that brings the store-bought food or at least I don’t.
Last week at work we brought in snack foods as a pick me up for our department and our students. I was so excited because I knew I wanted to bring in this Hummus Made Easy. I made 2 of the traditional recipes: Southwest Black Bean Hummus Made Easy with Black Beans and Roasted Red Pepper Hummus Made Easy with Garbanzo Beans. I served them with sliced cucumbers and celery sticks and tortilla chips.
One of my students that works for me, Lindsey, is a Senior in Nutrition and a lover of hummus. She tried the Roasted Red Pepper at first because that is the flavor of hummus she usually eats.
Like me, she thought that would be her favorite, but when she tried the Southwest Black Bean, she was won over by its depth of flavor and creaminess.
We both really enjoyed it with the tortilla chips. It reminded me of a much healthier version of Bean Dip that I used to love when I was a kid.
Since Lindsey is studying to be a Dietitian, we talked about why Hummus is a healthier snack choice. I told her that my kids and I love eating the hummus with veggies and that’s my way of getting more veggies in our daily diet. That’s always a good thing. The beans in the hummus provide a good source of protein, which satiates our hunger better than calorie filled cheese dips and other typical finger food.
This is the Classic flavor made with Bush’s Garbanzo Chick Peas.
This product can be found at Walmart on the Bean aisle.
I highly recommend Bush’s Hummus Made Easy to anyone that loves hummus. If you’ve never tried hummus, this is a must try for sure! I think you will be just as happy as Lindsey looks. Give it a try and let me know how you like it and your favorite flavor variety.
I am such a fan of hummus, but have never heard of this product. I hope my Walmart has it. And I love bushes baked beans.
Yes, I hope your Walmart has it too, because it is so good!
i have never made hummus but I would love to try this recipe.
Mmmm, I love how simple and easy this is to make. And it’s so yummy.
