Fall Bucket Photo Challenge: An Invitation to See Differently

This fall I’m starting a Fall Bucket Photo Challenge…to gather the moments that feel like a memory, and the ones that might become one.

Fall Leaves 2011 - 53

Its not a checklist. Not a race. Just a way to notice what fills the bucket: light, color, memory, longing. The things we almost miss. The things we want to remember.

Let’s curate photos that speak to autumn’s texture. Scenic drives, waterfall mist, roadside candy shops, quiet towns, and the way the light shifts in familiar places. Some will be from past trips. Some will be new. All will be chosen with care.

If you’re feeling the pull to document your own version, whether it’s a single leaf on the sidewalk or a weekend of fall colors, I’d love to see what you capture. No rules, just resonance. Photos with and for a purpose.

You can join in by posting your own “fall bucket” moments. You can share you posts with the linkup below. Or just follow along. Either way, I hope it brings a little clarity and comfort to your season.

Prompt Ideas to Fill Your Bucket
This list is just a starting point. Use it if it helps, but more than anything, take photos that show why you love fall. The textures, the memories, the places that feel like home.

• A roadside stand with pumpkins or cider
• A single leaf caught in motion
• Fog lifting over a quiet lake
• Candy shop shelves or nostalgic treats
• A winding road framed by color
• Waterfalls with golden foliage nearby
• Porch scenes with mums or rocking chairs
• A cozy town square or local diner
• Reflections in puddles or windows
• Your favorite fall snack or drink
• A book or blanket moment by the window
• A tree you’ve photographed in every season
• A place that feels like memory
• Something you almost didn’t notice
• A scarf tossed on a chair
• A quiet cemetery with old stones and golden trees
• A roadside sign that feels like memory
• A car ride with music and open windows
• A moment that feels like closure or beginning

So whether you’re chasing color or standing still in it, let this be a season of noticing. Of gathering what speaks to you. Of filling the bucket with photos that mean something, because fall isn’t just beautiful, it’s personal.
