Two Shows in a Day (Vegas Trip Day 5)

Some days come wrapped in setbacks. Others surprise you with unlikely detours that turn out to be the highlight reel. Day 5 started with a limp and ended with lights, laughter, and a couple of unforgettable performances—each one wildly different, both perfectly Vegas. Whether you’re strolling or struggling, the city knows how to show up for you when you lean into the unexpected.

I woke up the next morning and thought for a minute that my achilles was feeling better, but the more I walked around on it in the hotel room, I could tell that was not the case. I was so sad about it. I felt like I was ruining our time in Vegas. I didn’t want to waste our time there, so I asked Rob for suggestions. We landed on the idea of going to see Popvich Comedy Pet Theater.

View from our hotel room, just a couple blocks off the strip, but its still in view.

We Ubered over to Planet Hollywood for lunch and then the show.

We ended up eating lunch at Gordon Ramsay’s Burger. Pretty darn good! If you’ve never been to Vegas, its expensive including food. This place was even a little pricier than I would have like, but you’re paying for the name. I think it was almost worth it.

Gregory Popovich’s Pet Comedy Show

After enjoying one of them most delicious burgers I’ve ever had, I limped my way over to the Popovich Comedy Pet Theater, which is housed inside the V Theater. These Vegas hotels can be blocks long, so just because a theater is inside the same building doesn’t mean its close.

This is outside the theater that is located in the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood.

Popovich Comedy Pet Theater in Vegas is a feel-good family show where rescued cats, dogs, birds—even a mini horse—perform clever tricks and skits with circus flair. Led by former Moscow Circus star Gregory Popovich, it’s part comedy, part compassion, and is totally unforgettable.

From there, I was able to limp my way slowly to the Bellagio for the fountain show and to see their Conservatory & Botanical Gardens.

Outside, the iconic Fountains of Bellagio dance every 15–30 minutes depending on the time of day to music from Sinatra to Lady Gaga, launching water nearly 500 feet into the air in a free, choreographed spectacle.

Then we went inside to check out the Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens. It was dressed in spring splendor with its “Birds and the B’s” exhibit, featuring a walk-through birch bark beehive, real nesting birds, and thousands of blooming wisteria. Highlights included Fabergé-style eggs and a towering Mother Earth sculpture that celebrated renewal and pollination.

After that we Ubered back to our hotel for some rest before the concert.

The Eagles at The Sphere

A couple hours before the concert, we Ubered over to the Palazzo, which is where you’re supposed to enter from. We wanted to give ourselves plenty of time to get there and to be able to look around before the it started. This is just outside looking at the Sphere.

If you’ve never heard of The Sphere in Vegas, it is a massive, high-tech venue that delivers immersive concerts and cinematic experiences through a 16K wraparound LED screen, haptic seats, scent effects, and surround sound from 167,000 speakers. Standing taller than the Statue of Liberty, it hosts residencies like the Backstreet Boys’ “Into the Millennium” and Darren Aronofsky’s nature film Postcard from Earth.

We were there to see the Eagles, which I’m not a fan of, but Rob is and they are iconic. The Sphere is like stepping inside a giant sci-fi brain—lights, sound, visuals, and even scents coming at you from every direction. It’s engineered to thrill all five senses at once, and for a lot of folks, it feels more like experiencing a dream than watching a show.

I highly recommend if you’re ever in Vegas to see something in The Sphere!

After the concert, we walked over to the Venetian Food Court because we hadn’t had dinner, plus Uber prices were high. We grabbed some grub from Fire of Brazil Churrascaria just before they closed. Then just hung out in the Venetian and watched and waited for Uber prices to drop.

Even with my achilles acting up, the day was a win — rescued pets, Bellagio blooms, and sensory overload at The Sphere. We were still grateful for the magic tucked into every ache and laugh.
