Dec. 26th
The day after Christmas we got up, went and got our rental car, and headed to Baton Rouge.
We stopped at The Boiling Pot in Mobile, AL. Really great shrimp po-boys, pricy, but overflowing with shrimp so it was worth it.
Next stop was Rob’s cousin, Candi’s house in Baton Rouge. We stayed with his other cousin Sara and her husband Phillip. They have 2 of the coolest pets.
Dec. 27th
Wednesday we hung out back at Candi’s house some more. We ended our visit there with a visit to our good old standby, Brew-bachers. From there we drove to Longview, TX for the night.

Thursday we checked out of the hotel, got Kalaches, and headed into Fort Worth. We made a stop to visit grave sites of my Granny and Grandparents. We also stopped at Chan’s Mongolian Grill.
That afternoon we arrived in Weatherford, where we hung out at my sister’s house. My Mom came over and later that evening we all went out to Antonio’s.

Rob’s Dad and Step Mom had driven up from Huntsville, TX the day before, so that morning we met up with them and we went out with them shopping for our Christmas presents. When we got done with that we went to Braum’s where we met up with my brother and his kids and my Mom. We bought everyone lunch and then ice cream, of course!
That afternoon we gathered at Nikki’s house. She got home from work and we played with our nieces and nephews and they opened their presents. Nikki made dinner for us. We had so much fun.
Dec. 30th
We couldn’t get too comfortable at anyone place because the next morning, it was up and at’em as we headed towards home. We made a stop not too long after leaving Nikki’s at a Braum’s for breakfast and cherry limeades. In Tyler, Tx, we stopped at one of my all time favorite places in the world, Rudy’s. We got a couple pounds of brisket to eat on New Year’s Day. There’s just nothing like Texas Brisket. YUM!!
Lunch was at Marilynn’s Place
We decided to take a route through Arkansas so we drove from Sheveport up to El Dorado, Arkansas. We have done this trip so much we enjoy going different ways home.
That night we had dinner at Central Station Grill. Highly recommend this place. Very clean. Great food and atmosphere.
Dec. 31st
We slept in at the hotel, which was nice after this world-wind trip. It was so cold outside, like in the 20’s. We got in the car and drove around the campus of Mississippi State. We got out for a few pictures, but the wind was hollowing quite fiercly, so those abbreviated.
Lunch was a must before conquering our 4 hour drive home. I found this place online called Bulldog Burger Co.. Alex wasn’t hyped about it like I was, but he didn’t like the fact it had “bull dog” in the name. I’m a burger snob, so I love trying new burger places. This place did NOT disappoint at all. I had the Freshman 15 and Rob and Alex split a Freshman 15 and the Bryant. The hand cut fries were delicious as well. This place is super trendy and very clean. Highly recommend!
Although it was a quick trip, I’m glad we went. I wish I could spend more time in Texas, but happy to go when we can. What did you do after Christmas?
