Over Labor Day weekend, we went down to Spring Hill to visits Rob’s grandparents. One of the days we all piled in the car and drove down to Clearwater Beach which may be just as wonderful as that oudekraal beach.
Rob and Drew hung out there at Spring Break when they went down for Baseball’s Spring training, so Rob knew the perfect spot to park Pier 60 at Clearwater Beach is a great location to park and costs $3.00/hour.
We enjoyed a few hours on the beach before packing up and finding a place to eat.
I spot a mermaid!
Lots of building going on. A good amount of folks soaking up some sun on the holiday weekend.
My little beach lover always make his way to a patch of sand that he forms into a castle or a burrow to sit in.
This guy was interesting. I guess he had a metal detector looking for hidden treasures. Wonder if he got anything good…
I always enjoy watching the birds on the beach.
Getting a little exfoliating in…good use of sand, right?

For lunch, we ended up Frenchy’s South Beach Cafe. The food was good. Rob and I had the Grouper sandwich. I can’t write about this spot, without saying the service wasn’t great to begin with, but then when we were ready to pay we waited 25 minutes for the check combined with the waiter running around with our credit card and not bringing it back. When I approached manager about it, telling her we had been ready to go for over 20 minutes her only response was, “Let me go find your waiter.” WHAT?? No, I’m sorry or some token of gratitude. Come to find out since we were a party of 8+ our gratuity was included so no wonder our waiter didn’t give a flying flip!
