Today I’m sharing another cookbook post from my old blog. Today is my shoulder surgery, so I humbly ask for thoughts and prayers in the coming days. Hope you enjoy today’s post!

For today’s cookbook I’m sharing with you one of my good old stand-byes: Selections from Better Homes and Garden New Cook Book
Remember this was in the 1990’s, before the internet was inundated with amazing cook sites and blogs. Better Homes and Garden New Cook Book is a book without intimidatingly beautiful food pictures. It’s literally black print on now yellowing pages.
Here’s the Table of Contents. I also enjoy the index in the back of the book.

One of the first recipes I ever cooked from this book was the Stuffed Green Peppers. Still one of my favs!

The recipe I’d like to try next from this cookbook is the Chocolate Revel Bars; quick-cooking rolled oats, chocolate, and walnuts. Who could turn that down?
This book is a must read cookbook because it’s simple, well-organized, and filled with recipes that will not overwhelm you. Most of the recipes have less than 10 ingredients and the instructions are straight and to the point. Sometimes it’s nice to have a cookbook that is simply that; a cookbook. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy reading background stories and seeing amazing photographs, but at time I just want to cut to the chase and find that recipe.

Oh how fun! I love a good cookbook, especially old ones with stained pages and handwritten notes!
Oh this was a blast from the past! I had a similar one but it had a spiral binding with pictures. I gave both kids the new edition, which is gorgeous and so practical.
