LRStan’s Xanga Archives

Thursday March 31, 2005
Hi! I got the pics I ordered last week and got to see how they looked. I might try to post some of those later. Anyway…then I placed another order, so that I can send out pics of Alex’s first birthday and others that haven’t been printed. That may not make any sense and I’m sorry if it doesn’t! I’m not feeling that great right now. I was just bragging to Rob that since not being at work, I haven’t had any headaches or neck pain. And guess what? This afternoon I’ve had both! Ugh!

Hope you’re having a good day!

Anyone know anything about blogdrive.com? I decided livejournal is not that user friendly and isn’t worth switchin’. Now I’m trying out blogdrive, but it’s a lot more expensive. I don’t know! I think I need to quit being so itchy and just stick with Xanga!

Here it is.

DUH! I feel like such a dumb@**! Rob came home during lunch as I had asked him to because of the water filter that I couldn’t get out! He’s never had to deal with it before so I start reading the directions off to him…Counter clockwise????????? I had looked at that thing 5 times before and would have sworn it said clockwise! Needless to say he turned it easily and got it out…No biggie! I was so ticked!

Forgot to blog about this yesterday! (trying to help my mood LOL)

Anyway Drew called yesterday from out of town with MaMere and PaPere S. He talked my ear off…I think he misses me! He told me they’d been golfing, that he got new church shoes, he got a game boy and some games, he colored eggs, hunted eggs, that he drove a golf cart and ran into a trash can, and lots more…I can’t even remember everything! Sounded like he was having a real great time!

It’s weird though being minus 1 kid. When I’m leaving to go somewhere, I’m subconciously thinking, “I’m missing something.” Or we’ll see somebody we know and they see us with Alex and they’re like, “You’re missing somebody, aren’t ya?” And we have to explain!

Anyone with a Whirlpool fridge?

Every January the red light comes on to tell us that we need to replace our water filter. Well…I was bad this year and didn’t get around to buying another one until yesterday! So I get down on my knees as the filter is down near the floor and the instructions say to turn the knob clockwise 1/4. SOUNDS SOOOO EASSSSSY! But it’s NOT! In fact I’ve tried it multiple times and usually I can get it with lots of elbow grease and adrenaline! But this time, I somehow managed to POP the cover off leaving the filter still connected!! ARHGHGHGHGH! So now I’ve been trying to get the filter to turn and it seems impossible! And I just hate when things are unfinished, unresolved, etc! But I guess I’ll see if Rob can get it out!

I forgot to tell yall last week that we booked this Cruise! For those of you who don’t know, Rob and I LOVE to cruise! We haven’t been on a cruise since Oct. 2003! We’re going this October and we’re taking Drew with us. Rob’s brother is going too. I need to get motivated and start exercising and eating more healthy! If anyone is trying to do the same or already does this regularly, I would love some one to keep me in check. Kind of a workout/diet buddy…email me or comment and let me know if you’re interested! I’m real good at motivating others, just not great at keeping myself motivated!

So far today is productive. Took Easter pics of Alex, finally. He woke up cranky, but I’m hoping they look ok. Haven’t downloaded them yet. Dropped him off at school. Took stuff back at 2 different stores and got groceries, etc. at Walmart! Came home put groceries away and put new shower curtain up! Now I gotta go get Rob for lunch!

Wow! I’ve now password protected my family website. I’m exhausted! Not that password protecting it was that difficult, but I moved some stuff around and had to change links, etc so that you don’t have to enter the password so often! For now I’m going to leave the link off this site, but if you’ld like to see it you can comment below or email me and I’ll give you the link and password.

G’night!

The AC people finally came and left. I’m still hanging out reading blogs. I think I’m going to finish cleaning upstairs and then I have about 10 bags of trash/ stuff to give away! I think I’ll go ahead and get that stuff gone. I have the walker in the back of my SUV that I’m going to finally get rid of. Too bad none of my blogger friends don’t live closer, I could just pass this baby stuff on to them Well, I’m gonna go for now…

Happy Monday!

I’m just hanging out waiting for the AC people to come and see why our AC is icing over where the filter is. They said they’d be here at 9, so I figured that I could take Baby T after they leave. They’re not here yet and he’s still sleeping. I thought I’d let him go to school a little while to try and get back into the swing of things. I’ve got some errands to run. I just hope the AC people get here soon…I hate having to wait….

Many of you know that I’m thinking of moving my blog. I found livejournal and I’m trying it out. My premium Xanga expires in April, so it would be the best time to change if I plan to do so. Has anyone used livejournal or know anyone who has? It seems to have a lot more options and is price competive with Xanga!

You can see my new site here. I’m playing around with it and trying to see if I like it better!

Hey – I’ve had lots of friends do the live journal thing and they have all came over to Xanga. For what reason I do not know but they gave up one for this one???????? I think this one is easier for my limited computer capabilities, haha…

Interesting….

Yah, I just read on LJ that I can’t post pics to them. I’d have to link them, which is not a big deal for me, but it is kind of nice having to use my other web space for blog stuff.

My “You know you’re a Mom when…”

~~You have empty sippy cups rolling around in the back floor board of your SUV or Van.
~~ You go to work with bodily fluids on your shirt!
~~ Bodily fluid no longer gross you out!
~~ You step on a toy in the middle of the night and have to hobble back to bed.
~~ You shop more in the kids/baby section that in the Women’s section.
~~ You feel like a broken record, “Stop, stop, stop, don’t do that, don’t do that, don’t do that, be quiet, be quiet, be quiet, etc!” LOL
~~ You are no longer bothered by “Why?…why?…why?…”
~~You get used to cleaning bugers off the wall (but still don’t understand “WHY?” they are there).

Feel free to comment and help me add to the list!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Easter! I was planning on taking some pics of Baby T, but he is still just too sick and really cranky. We went to Sunday School, out to eat, and I’ve been doing some major cleaning! I’m taking a break as I don’t want to kill myself! I’ll take the “Easter pics” when Alex is feeling better. Oh yah and it’s YUCKY here! Rainy, stormy, just yuck! We had a hard time sleeping last night due to all the thunder…Maybe I’ll take a nap!

First day of Spring Break today! And I’m already exhausted! Baby T came home with a 103 Fever! It came down a little last night, but he was just not himself. This morning was still so hot and crying. We went to the Dr. and he has a viral infection on his throat and an ear infection! Agh! I couldn’t believe it!

So now I’m packing for Drew as he’s going out of town for spring break. I’m also working getting this house clean! It’s just amazing how quickly a house can get messy. I’ve got a long list of cleaning, organizing, and stuff to do next week! So we’ll see!

Gonna go clean some more!

Ok…I’m still pondering this security issue! I think the 1st thing I’m going to do is to come up with nick-names for us all, but I can’t think of anything cute…everything I think of is cheesy! Mrs. Flingers has such a cute one, which is neat because it goes with something her family likes. Any suggestions would be great! I’m also thinking of switching blog sites, but Xanga is just so cheap! Not sure what I’d go to…Hmmmm…

Hi, this is Jen. Periwinkle to be specific. I found your site through a referal link. I’ve been reading ever since 🙂

I am trying not to be paranoid, but it’s worrying me too. It never occured to me that people would do anything like that. It’s good to read what other people are doing, but I agree that watermarking all the pics I’ve posted would be a huge undertaking. Keep posting about what you’re going to do. I could use the advice!

Ok, I’m worried now!! This is the 3rd time I’ve heard of people doing this! I have such an extensive family website with photos and stuff, it would take me hours to watermark these! My family websites are at a totally different web address. Also with the way my pages are each page would have to be password protected seperately. Hmmm…I don’t know what to do to protect my family…

I’m EXHAUSTED!!!! Going on a field trip is one of the most tiring things a person can do! At least in my opinion. Warm Springs was great. They’ve redone a lot of it since I’ve been there. The kids enjoyed it for the most part. I enjoyed taking pictures of my students sleeping on the way back! The others got a kick out of it also! I had to do something to keep MYSELF awake! LOL

Tomorrow we’re headed to Warm Springs, Ga for a field trip! I’ll let you know how that goes.

I still want to do the Picture Meme, but it’s looking like I won’t be doing it since I’ve had just 1 request! LOL…Anyway…Hope YOU have a great Hump Day tomorrow!

I went shopping today. I was in need of new Nikes. I was hoping to get them at JCPenney, but they didn’t have much of a selection. I went to the Shoe Dept. and ended up getting some Adidas. They feel really good and now I have no excuses for not walking!

Anyway, I’d like to get some cute spring clothes, but I need to hold off…

It’s so cold right now!! I wish the weather would just decide to be SPRING and stay in the 70’s for a few weeks! That would be so nice.

Hmmmmm….

What to write about? I’ve been in a really bad mood lately, but that seems to be a reoccurring problem lately! Oh well! Anyway…

My class was talking about the last day of school being 39 days away. They asked if I was sad to see them go and I said YES!!! I don’t want them to leave me! This is the first time I’ve really felt that way about a class. I mean, even the bad kids, you just have to love! They just make me laugh. they said that I should move up to 6th grade with them. I was like, “NO! Then I’d have a bunch of other 6th graders that I wouldn’t know!” …… Good answer! LOL

So…anyway…I gotta go put Drew to bed and I may be back later!

Why do I read your blog? Because… You are some place that I called home for a year, you enjoy the AU sports about as much as I enjoy the JSU sports, so we have that in common and you teach and I teach. You always have good pictures and I enjoy the things you say about your boys 🙂 Is that a good enough answer? 🙂

I too am addicted to reading other peoples blogs… Who knows why?

Your Brain is 80.00% Female, 20.00% Male

Your brain leans female
You think with your heart, not your head
Sweet and considerate, you are a giver
But you’re tough enough not to let anyone take advantage of you!

Monday March 7, 2005
Well, we just had Alex’s birthday party. Gramma Johnston, Nick, Maria, Layne, Drew, Rob, and I celebrated with Alex. We had lasagna shells and salad, which I cooked. Then we had cake and Alex opened presents. Nothing out of the ordinary! Alex got a Little Tyke Swing and clothes. He also got an elmo toy. Alex was not real sure about the little party hat that we put on him, but he eventually got used to it. He also wasn’t real sure about the cake eating. He seemed to not like the feel of the icing on his hands, but when I cut a piece of the cake off and gave it to him, he liked it! It’s raining today.

I just can’t believe it’s been a year already…

I’m off to bed now…

I’m just hanging out, trying to relax…except Drew continues to throw his apple in the air. He’s “pushing my buttons”! And he’s good at it! LOL! I fixed Stroganoff tonight, which was pretty good. Not sure how Rob will like it, but we’ll see! Alex was tired so I laid him down.

THANKS! to all that donated to Drew’s READ-A-THON! He turns his money in tomorrow and he raised $230.50 for his school!! AWESOME! Hopefully they’ll put it to good use!

I guess that’s all for now…

Ok…so I just posted and I started doing some googling….

I found this article…
5 Ways to Avoid Feeling the “Burned Out Blues”
By Nicole Bandes

It doesn’t matter if you are a corporate executive, employee, a work-at-home mom or a stay-at-home mom because we all have times in our lives when we just feel physically “burned out.” Some of us feel that way so often that we begin to think it is normal.

The good news: it isn’t. Not only is it not normal, but it can be successfully handled. Here are some suggestions on how to beat the “burned out blues.”

1. Get adequate sleep
Determine how much sleep your body really needs by giving yourself 15 extra minutes of sleep each night until you don’t feel as groggy during the day. Once you have determined the amount you need, stick to it.

Go to bed and get up at the same time, even on the weekends. When you get adequate sleep, you don’t constantly feel fatigued.

2. Exercise
Think you don’t have time to exercise? You don’t have time not to. Challenge yourself to walk at least 30 minutes, four out of seven days, for two weeks. At the end of those two weeks, you’ll be getting more accomplished than when you didn’t exercise.

Exercise makes you feel more alert and alive, allowing you to get more done in less time. So go ahead, exercise! Time isn’t an excuse anymore.

3. Eat less processed carbohydrates
When you eat enough protein throughout the day, starting with breakfast, your blood sugar doesn’t spike and dip like it does when you eat mostly breads, rice and carbohydrate junk food. Without the blood sugar ups and downs, you won’t get as fatigued during the day.

Protein should accompany every meal. If you need a great afternoon pick-me-up, try an apple with peanut butter.

4. No more caffeine!
I can’t stress this enough; consuming caffeine leads to a vicious cycle. You drink it to get more energy, and it gets the energy by putting a strain on your adrenal glands. You feel tired because your adrenals are worn out, so you drink more caffeine.

5. Support your adrenals
Your adrenal glands support your stress responses. When you experience stress, whether physical or emotional, your adrenal glands produce hormones to combat the changes your body experiences during these times of stress.

When you’re under stress for extended periods of time, your adrenals can’t continue to produce the hormones at the same pace and begin to shut down, thus causing more physical “burn out.”

There are many good herbal sources for the adrenals. Find a company that promotes the quality of their products and produces formulations focusing on adrenal support.

You don’t have to constantly feel fatigued. You can feel more alive and refreshed when you wake up, and more energized throughout the day. Make a few simple lifestyle changes and you will become a much happier, more productive person.

Ok, so which of these do I do?
1. Get adequate sleep = most of the time
–I usually don’t have a problem with this.
2. Exercise = no
–well I know I need to exercise and I’m not going to make excuses! Maybe someday I can get into a regular routine.
3. Eat less processed carbohydrates = no
–well I’ve done the South Beach, but it’s hard to stay on! I love my carbs!
4. No more caffeine! = not always
–well I do Diet Caffeine Free coke most of the time
5. Support your adrenals = no
–I’m not into herbs.

I would definitely agree that exercise helps in every way!!  I’ve been exercising alot lately, my goal being 30 minutes on the machine or a really long walk with the dogs.  I feel phenomenal when I’m finished!

Sorry you’ve been feeling hum-drum.  We don’t get alot of sun in Columbus during the winter and it makes me feel down sometimes.  After awhile you just want to see some sun!

Alex’s birthday is March 7th, that’s the same as my Mom’s and my Uncle’s.  I cannot believe it’s that long since we got back in touch!!

What is wrong with me? I guess I’m feeling hum-drum. Life sometimes seems like an endless cycle of work, laundry, cooking, and cleaning! I get in these moods where I just don’t want to do anything! Just sick of it! I guess I’m just burned out! I don’t know why I’m posting this….maybe I’ll get some tips from other moms who feel the same way…or something!

Happy March!

Wow! Next Monday is my baby’s 1st birthday, so I’ve been thinking back to what was going on this time last year. I just can’t beleive it’s been a year! It seems like yesterday I was sitting in this very chair feeding my little one! Geez!

My students took the Alabama Direct Writing Assessment today! Not sure how they did, since it’s my first year teaching 5th grade, but hopefully they did well.

Nick (my bil) moved out today. So I’ve got to get Alex’s room cleaned up, where he had been sleeping. And at some point I’ve got to clean the carpets. Ick!

Not much else to say now….. Later!
