Everyday life sure can be pretty enjoyable when you’re part of a loving couple, but it’s not always a box of chocolates. After all, even though you might want to spend your days lying in each other’s arms, there is the tiny matter of real life to contend with. That can make it pretty difficult to enjoy as much quality time as you’d like with one another.

That’s why vacations are such a good idea. A relaxing vacation allows you to unwind, refresh, and spend quality time together. But how do you go about it? We take a look at a few tips that’ll put you on the front path (or at least ensure your vacation isn’t fraught with disagreements).

Pick the Right Time
You can’t just blink your eyes and get swept away and expect to have an awesome time. You might have a good time if you take that approach, but a great one? For that, you’ll need to choose the time wisely. And by that, we mean picking a period that’s good for both people. You should be in sync. If one person is fitting a vacation into a busy work period, then it’s unlikely that there’ll be as relaxed as they could be.

Where To Go
There are plenty of awesome vacation destinations out there, but they’re not equally relaxing. Indeed, some aren’t relaxing at all — they’re just fun, or interesting, as in the case of New York City. If relaxation is top of the priority list, then look at heading to the beach or to the mountains. You’d be hard-pressed to have anything other than an ultra-relaxing break with Sea Ranch vacation rentals, for instance. If you’re more a mountain couple, take a look at booking a hideaway cabin, far from the maddening crowd.

Drop the Schedule
There’s always a temptation to pack your days with activities when you’re vacationing. There’s nothing wrong with this, per se, but it’s not the right approach if you’re trying to relax. Even if it goes against what you’d normally do, look at making this trip schedule-free, or at least schedule-reduced. You’ll wake up and just do as you and your partner please. There’s really no better way to relax than by simply going with the flow.

Leave the Office Behind
One reason why some couples struggle to truly relax while they’re away is that their minds are half on what’s happening right in front of them and half on what’s happening in the office. The internet has done a lot of good, but it’s been a disaster for people that want to take a break from their corporate world for a few days. They’re always connected! To ensure that you’re not interrupted by calls from the office, leave the office behind. That means airplane mode! It can feel a little weird at first, but power through that feeling. Then, you’ll find it much easier to relax, and to really focus on what’s happening right in front of you, which is — you’re having an awesome time with your loved one!
