In a large skillet, brown ground beef, diced onions, and garlic. I use
Calphalon Contemporary Hard-Anodized Aluminum Nonstick Cookware, 12-inch Set
When meat is brown, drain grease. Sprinkle chili powder over meat mixture along with jalapenos. Stir in 2 cups of water. Pour in uncooked rice and bring to a boil. Lower to a rolling simmer.
Let it simmer for about 15 minutes. Water should start dissipating.
Pour in can of chopped tomatoes and green chilies, beans, and ketchup. Stir.
Allow to simmer for 10 minutes or until rice is tender and water gone.
Serve with a dollop of sour cream if you like.
