Family Friday {New Pet Edition}

For those of you who follow me on Instagram, you know about the newest addition to the family. Yes, I think hell has frozen over, because our newest family member is a cat. Rob has never been a huge fan of cats. When this cat started hanging out around the house, he actually entertained the idea of keeping it.

Once a week share with your readers a little more personal information about what's going in your life and with your family in a post called Family Friday. This edition I share about our new cat.

We got her spayed the week before Christmas, which ended up becoming a nightmare. To sum it up, she ripped the sutures out. We had to take her back to the vet and they put staples in, sending her home with a lovely e-collar. Rob’s mom was so nice and kept all of our pets when we were gone for 11 days right after Christmas. When got her back, I took her back to the vet to have staples removed and she’s all healed now.

When we got the cat, we had intended for it to be a strictly outside cat. However, after spending a a whole lot of money on this feline, we’re scared she’s runaway.

So what’s the cat’s name? That’s complicated. Our neighbors started calling her Barb. No body in the house found that to be an appropriate name for the cat. Rob started calling it Smokie. I suggested Katniss from the Hunger Games. Alex calls it Jell-o because of the way she moves when she’s sitting in a ball. So really the cat doesn’t have a formal name.

As for Daisy, she’s pretty cool with the cat around. Daisy wants to play with the cat, but the cat of course wants nothing do with poor Daisy.
